NEW JERSEY — Costco is getting a new name.
The store chain is launching its new brand in New Jersey, and will open a store in the state by 2020.
Costco announced the move on its Facebook page Thursday.
The name change comes after the company was recently criticized for not doing enough to increase awareness of the new name in the area.
The company said that its new logo and branding will make the store more accessible and accessible for customers, adding that the new logo will be “more memorable than ever.”
We are excited to bring our brand to the new New Jersey community and look forward to a great start to our 2019 calendar,” Costco said.
The Costco brand was the most popular brand in the U.S. in the early 2000s, but is now experiencing a decline.
In 2018, it was at #13 in the top 10 brands for the first time.
The brand has fallen from its peak in 2015.
